Shutdown via CLI

To shutdown linux from the command line, open an ssh connection to the server and by adding this function to roots’ .bashrc file

vim /root/.bashrc file

insert

quit ()
{
poweroff -d
}

save and quit the file. Now all you have to do is type

quit

from the command line and voila! server is shutting down.
