Here’s how to install node.js on your cPanel server<\/p>\n

yum install openssl-devel
\ncd \/usr\/local\/src
\nwget http:\/\/nodejs.org\/dist\/v0.6.8\/node-v0.6.8.tar.gz
\ntar zxvf node-v0.6.8.tar.gz
\ncd node-v0.6.8
\n.\/configure
\nmake
\nmake install<\/code><\/p>\n

If you get the error:<\/p>\n

\nSyntaxError: invalid syntax<\/code><\/p>\n

the python script may be attempting to run the configure file with the default cPanel Python 2.4. So, install Python 2.7 alongside python 2.4 and re-run the script again using:<\/p>\n

python2.7 .\/configure<\/code><\/p>\n

Then it ran correctly.<\/p>\n
