Clamav is the most popular free anti virus program for Linux environment.( Of course it scans for widows virus) However, clam is a command line utility and you need some skills for manipulating is properly. There are several graphical front ends for clam av which can make your life easy. The most popular among them are clamtk and Klamav.<\/p>\n

Clamtk<\/a>
\nClakmtk uses Perl-tk\u00a0 for GUI. It is available for several distributions. On ubuntu you can install it as
\n
\n$ sudo apt-get install clamtk
\n<\/code>
\nOn Karmic it showed up as virus scanner under Applications ->system tools.<\/p>\n

On launching it , the following screen pops up<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>
\nYou can select for\u00a0 single user settings or system wide settings and then click save. The main window of clamtk will pop . You can choose\u00a0 either your home folder\u00a0 , a file or a specific directory for scanning.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>
\nWhen the scan is completed a list of detected\u00a0 viruses will be shown. You can select individual\u00a0 infections and right click on them to delete or quarantine.
\n\"\"<\/a>
\n( My usb stick had nearly 100 infections. I wanted to select them all for deletion\u00a0 . How ever I could not find such\u00a0 an option.)<\/p>\n

Klamav<\/a>
\nKlamav is a KDE\u00a0 based front end to clamav. You can install it with
\n
\n$ sudo apt-get install klamav
\n<\/code>
\nIt showed up as Applications->System tools ->klamav. On launching it, I got the following screens.<\/p>\n

\n\"\"<\/a>
\nYou can configure\u00a0 clamav command line and Quarantine location.
\n\"\"<\/a>
\nYou will get the above\u00a0 screen. You can check the folders to be scanned.<\/p>\n

\nScanning in progress.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>
\nFinal result of scan.<\/p>\n
